The Chateaugay Bulldogs head back to the Class D Championship Game for the fifth year in a row with a stellar win over the Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets. The Bulldogs opened up the first quarter with a 13-0 run. The Bulldogs looked as though they were going to run away with the game, playing excellent denial defense and running the floor against the 'jackets. The Bulldogs led 17-7 after one. In the second quarter the momentum swung to the Yellowjackets. Madrid took over the game in the second quarter with excellent man-to-man pressure and great ball movement on offense. Madrid finished the first half on a 7-0 run and only trailed the Bulldogs 22-20 at haltime. The third quarter though the Bulldogs would come out fired up. Chateaugay opened up quickly on a 12-2 run, and didn't look back. Madrid had no answer offensively for Chateaugay and the Bulldogs led 45-32 after three. In the fourth the Yellowjackets could only get as close as 12 late in the ball game but Chateaugay would used a 20-16 fourth quarter run to deny the Yellowjackets their comeback bid. Alex Stalter had a huge game for Chateaugay with 23 points. Ian Henderson added 17 points for the Bulldogs; all of which were in the second half. Alex Brock had 19 points to lead the 'jackets. Jordon Kendall added 10 points. Chateaugay moves on to face the #6 seeded Edwards-Knox Cougars Saturday at 2:45 at SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall.
